FluxScan Privacy Policy

FluxScan processes documents on your device. This policy distinguishes local document processing from downloads, technical SDK data and destinations you choose for exports.

2. Document processing and offline use

Scanning, text recognition (OCR), translation, signing and spellchecking process your documents locally. FluxScan does not automatically upload documents to its own server. According to Google, ML Kit does not send input images, text or processing results to Google servers.

Document features work offline once the required resources are available. Install translation models and dictionaries in Settings beforehand. On Android, the classic scanner also needs Google Play services components; their initial setup may require internet. Downloads, purchases and purchase restoration require a connection. Offline processing therefore does not mean that the app never connects to a network.

3. Google ML Kit: technical diagnostics and usage data

FluxScan uses Google ML Kit for OCR, text language identification and translation. The classic Android scanner also uses Google technology through Play services. Google receives technical data for diagnostics, maintenance and usage analysis of these features.

ML Kit may also contact Google servers for updated models, bug fixes and configuration information. According to Google, translation also uses Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Installations for configuration and diagnostics. These connections are not limited to downloads you deliberately start. FluxScan has no switch that reliably disables all ML Kit telemetry.

Google describes this processing in its ML Kit privacy information, the disclosures for Android and iOS, and the Google Privacy Policy. These also explain Google's processing, international transfers, retention and privacy rights. We cannot promise a single retention period of our own for Google's technical data.

4. Dictionaries and other downloads

When retrieving the language catalogue and downloading dictionaries, the app contacts flux42.de and the download providers identified in the catalogue. These services receive connection data such as IP address, time and requested resource. Document content is not required for these downloads. Our website privacy information, including hosting and server logs, also applies to our web services.

5. Permissions, sharing and storage

The camera is used to photograph documents. Access to selected images or files enables import and export. Depending on the operating system, the app uses system selection dialogs or relevant permissions. Android background processing and notifications may display progress for longer jobs.

You choose the destination when sharing, exporting or creating a backup. If you select a cloud provider or another app, they may process the selected files outside your device. Their privacy terms also apply.

Scans, recognized text, signatures and working files are stored within the local app data. Protection relies on the operating-system sandbox and device security. A PDF export password protects that exported file, not all local app data. Keep your own backups of important files.

6. App stores and purchases

App downloads, purchases and restoration of Pro features are handled by Apple or Google. Store providers process account, transaction and technical data under their terms; FluxScan processes the entitlement status required to unlock features. See Apple Privacy and Google Privacy.

7. Purposes, contact and retention

Document operations you request and provision of purchased features serve performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Secure operation of our download services and related server logs is covered by the legitimate interests described in the website policy (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These bases are not a blanket statement covering all processing for Google's own diagnostic and analytical purposes.

If you email us, we process your contact details and message to handle your request: for contractual matters under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, otherwise based on our legitimate interest in responding under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We retain correspondence only as needed for that purpose or statutory retention obligations. Do not send confidential documents that are unnecessary for your enquiry.

You can delete local documents in the app. Uninstalling the app generally deletes its local data; separately saved exports, backups and copies held by other providers are not deleted. Use the relevant storage destination to remove those copies. Deleting local app data also does not guarantee deletion of technical data already sent to Google.

8. Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability (Art. 15–20 GDPR). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). Where you have given consent, you may withdraw it for the future. Acknowledging an information dialog in FluxScan is not separate consent to all SDK processing.

You may contact us using the details above or lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. We cannot remotely access scans stored only on your device. This does not limit your rights concerning contact or connection data we actually process. Google's and Apple's privacy contacts are available for their independent processing.
